AdSense Pitfalls To Avoid

Using Google AdSense can be a great means of increasing the profitability of a marketer's website. There's no doubt about it, many people have tried it and made money, and are still continuing to make money from AdSense. So what is it that you can do that could turn this potentially profitable tool into a potential disaster? Let's take a look.

The biggest pitfalls that I've seen with AdSense are generally at the starting line. Once you have Google AdSense in place on your site, there are not too many mistakes that people make. So, my first recommendation is to follow Google's guidelines on using the AdSense program. Simple enough, right? Well, maybe.

Here's a short list of no-no's according to Google:
1. Don't use fake information when setting up an AdSense account.

2. Do not place AdSense ads on any registration, thank-you or confirmation pages.

3. You may not place AdSense ads and those of any of their competitor's ads on the same page.

4. Do not attempt to modify AdSense ads beyond the stated modifications allowed by Google.

Don't advertise anything that is listed on Google's list of prohibited items.

I know this may seem a bit redundant to those of you who already have AdSense accounts; however, you would be surprised to learn just how many people have made these mistakes. Many people simply forget that this or that isn't allowed or is in violation of the Google AdSense agreement. Or perhaps they simply didn't understand exactly what some of those stipulations really meant. Remember, if in doubt, ask. It will save you a lot of regrets later on.
